Poor Wayfaring Stranger

This American gospel/folk song, about a plaintive soul on the journey through life, originated in the 19th century. The arrangement is written in the style of artist Alex Boye's recording -- it begins with a solemn, vocal drone, over which a bass soloist performs the first verse of the song. The whole choir comes in on the chorus, reminiscent of an old spiritual. The middle section features African style vocalizations, and it grows into a huge final chorus. The chart works well as an opener for a 'traveling/journey' themed show. It also features a flute soloist (can be played on synth).
