Wherever I Go
The Utah folk band "The National Parks" have gained national attention over the last 10 years with their soulful 'indie-pop' songs like this 2015 hit. This chart features a baritone/alto duet for the first section (with a single soloist option found in the SSA score), and full choir for the rest of the ballad. The universal lyrics are about finding home in every destination along your travels, perfect for a graduation ceremony or 'journey' show. A wide variety of vocal textures keeps the arrangement musically interesting throughout, without getting too complex for the genre.
Instrumentation: Piano/Synth/Guitar/Bass/Drums/Percussion/Tpt/Tbn/Alto, Tenor, Bari Sax

There was something in the air The night that I left town The stars were bright and the world was spinning 'round There was something in the distance That kept leading me on To a brand new world, to a great beyond As the river flows and the city glows I'll be following the open road 'Cause wherever I go I know I'm going home Wherever I go I know I'm going home Ooh, I will never be alone 'Cause wherever I go, I'm home And the world was seeming smaller And the wind was at my back But no matter where I went I noticed that When everything is different Some things never change It's the light in the eyes and the love that stays the same As the river flows and the city glows I'll be following the open road 'Cause wherever I go I know I'm going home Wherever I go I know I'm going home I'm going home On this open road Wherever I go, I am going home And now I know I will never be alone 'Cause wherever I go, I'm goin' home Wherever I go, I'm home (The National Parks)
