Lullaby Medley
Performed by Broadway songstress Laura Osnes, "Lullaby" by Jonathan Reid Gealt is poignant and beautiful. The song is introduced with an a cappella setting of a quote from The Merchant of Venice, and after the lullaby the music dramatically builds into a multi-layered power ballad, using sleep related quotes from A Midsummer Night's Dream and Hamlet. This is a lullaby that will NOT put your audience to sleep! It features a substantial alto solo, subtle and sweet in the first section, then a full-on mesmerizing power belt over the final climax.
Instrumentation: Piano/Synth/Guitar/Bass/Drums/Percussion/2 Tpt/2 Tbn/Alto, Tenor, Bari Sax

How sweet the moonlight sleeps upon this bank Here will we sit and let the sound of music creep in our ears To die, to sleep, to sleep perchance to dream Close your eyes, go to sleep Not a word, not a peep Throw away what you fear When you wake I'll be here You will dream of a land Where the birds build a band With dancing bears and little sheep Lots of toys you can keep You will fly through the air Blowing wind in your hair On a rock flying fast Leave this world in the past Go to sleep, little you Know that I love you And if we shadows have offended Think of this, and all is mended That you have but slumbered here While these visions did appear We are all made of dreams And our life is a stretch From sleep before we're born To sleep after death And in that sleep of death What dreams may come We are all made of dreams Close your eyes, go to sleep Let the sound of music creep Go to sleep and dream (Laura Osnes)
